Functions and Role

Each Member and Associate Member has appointed an official as the Principal Contact Person to IOTA.

The Principal Contact Persons play a very significant role in the life of IOTA especially in the preparation and implementation process of the work programme of the Organisation.

Responsibilities of the Principal Contact Person to IOTA:

  • Providing speakers and experts at IOTA events;
  • Ensuring the right ‘target audience’ at IOTA events;
  • Ensuring completion of documents (reply cards, questionnaires etc.);
  • Timely disseminating of event materials to delegates;
  • Providing IOTA with details of current Administration training programmes (relevant to Member tax administrations only);
  • Informing IOTA of current training needs (relevant to Member tax administrations only);
  • Providing feedback to IOTA;
  • Timely responding to requests for information;
  • Providing regular update information on developments in Tax Administration activities (BCMP, twinning, information technology, tax treaties, Administration developments etc.) (relevant to Member tax administrations only);
  • Providing basic news and other articles for publication by agreed deadlines;
  • Providing access to Administration news publications;
  • Contributing to the IOTA website;
  • Disseminating of IOTA publications within the Tax Administration;
  • Promoting of IOTA within Administration and country;
  • Making proposals for the improvement of communication within IOTA;
  • Assisting Secretariat in the organisation of the IOTA events in his/her country.

They are responsible for ensuring a permanent link between the tax administrations and the Organisation and for facilitating the exchange of information, as well as assisting in the identification of the common needs of members.

By promoting IOTA within their tax administrations they also ensure better participation in the development of the Organisation, and active involvement in seminars and working groups.
