Appointment of New President and Director General of the Spanish Tax Agency (Spain) |

On 31 December 2011 Mr. Miguel Ferre and Ms. Beatriz Viana have been appointed Secretary of State for Finance and Director General of the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), respectively. The Secretary of State for Finance is also the President of the Spanish Tax Agency.
Mr. Ferre holds a Bachelor Degree in Law and belongs to the Superior Corps of State Tax Auditors. Along his professional carrier he has occupied several high-ranking positions within the Ministry of Finance and the Spanish Tax Agency. His wide international experience includes being a Finance Counsellor in the Spanish Permanent Representation to the European Union from 2000 to 2006, Deputy Director for International Affairs in the Tax General Directorate of the Ministry of Finance from 2006 to 2009, and member of the OECD Committee of Fiscal Affairs and the UN Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters.
Ms. Viana also holds a Bachelor Degree in Law and belongs to the Superior Corps of State Tax Auditors. She has developed several leading tasks in the tax auditing and collection areas of the Spanish Tax Agency and in the Tax General Directorate. She was also the Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Economy in 2003.
The main tasks of the AEAT's President are the top management of this body and its legal representation and to watch over the fulfilment of the AEAT objectives.
The Director's General main tasks are the management of the execution of AEAT's Performances Plan and of the smooth running of services.
