On 26-27 January 2012, the IOTA Executive Council met in Rome, Italy to review the development of the new strategy and discuss other administrative issues.

The Executive Council took, inter alia, the following decisions: 

• Accepted the draft agenda of the 16th General Assembly of IOTA to be held in Oslo, Norway on 5-6 July 2012;
• Decided to accept the request of the Tax Administration of Kazakhstan for the change of its status from the associate to full membership;
• Accepted the procedure for the recruitment of the IOTA Technical Expert (secondee);
• Short-listed applicants for the post of IOTA Executive Secretary to be further interviewed during the next meeting of the Executive Council;
• Accepted the new IOTA Strategy (draft).
