CIAT Technical Conference Hosted by the Spanish Tax Agency

The Spanish Tax Agency hosted this year´s CIAT Technical Conference in Santiago de Compostela from 6 to 9 October. More than 150 delegates from different tax administrations and international organizations gathered to discuss the main theme of the Conference "Optimization of Resources and Processes of Tax Administrations".
The Conference was opened by Ms. Marta Fernández, Secretary of State for Budget and Expenditure.
Mr. Santiago Menéndez, Director General of the Spanish Tax Agency also had an active participation all throughout the Conference.
Two Spanish experts from the Tax Agency delivered presentations on optimization of organizational processes and retributive models and incentives respectively and the Director of the Spanish Institute for Fiscal Studies spoke about the social perception of tax administrations' performance and voluntary compliance.
Also officials from other IOTA members, such as France, Italy, the Netherlands or Portugal participated actively by means of speakers or moderators. Mr. Miklós Kok, Executive Secretary of IOTA was commentator under topic 3 "Tools for Optimization of Resources, Processes and Decision Making".
After the presentation of the delegate from Portugal, the diagnosis tool R/A-FIT and the opportunity for collaboration in this regard by IMF, OECD, CIAT and IOTA were presented.
