Commissioner of NTS Korea Visits IOTA Secretariat in Budapest

High Rank officials of the National Tax Service (NTS) of Korea paid a formal visit to the IOTA Secretariat in Budapest, Hungary on 14th September 2021. The NTS of Korea is IOTA’s new associated member, whose membership was approved earlier this year at the 25th IOTA General Assembly.

The delegation led by the Commissioner of NTS Korea Mr Kim Dae-ji,had a fruitful meeting with members of the IOTA Secretariat. Alix Perrignon de Troyes, Executive Secretary of IOTA, and other members of the Secretariat staff gave a brief introduction to the IOTA, its governance structure, strategic objectives, activities and products. Both sides exchanged their views and perspectives on the future involvement of NTS Korea in the work of IOTA, particularly in the area of digitalisation of tax administration as well as other possible ways of cooperation in the future between IOTA and its new associate member.

Currently, NTS Korea is the sole associate member of IOTA. Associate membership of NTS Korea entered into force from 1st July 2021 providing an opportunity for tax officials of NTS Korea to participate in some of the IOTA technical events, engage in projects and contribute to the Organisation’s publications.    

Members of the Secretariat were very glad to meet the delegates of NTS Korea and we look forward to our cooperation and knowledge sharing over the next years.
