IOTA in Belt and Road Initiative Tax Cooperation Conference

IOTA, represented by Mr Roman Bichevoy, International Taxation Expert participated in the “Belt and Road Initiative Tax Cooperation Conference” held on 14-16 May in Astana, Kazakhstan. Mr Bichevoy delivered a presentation on Taxpayer Services and held short side meetings in the margins of the event, where more than 200 participants from 50 countries and international organisations such as IMF and World Bank were present.

The conference was co-organised by the Chinese Tax Administration, the Kazakh State Revenue Committee and the OECD. The Belt and Road Initiative aims to increase the interconnectivity of several regions of the world. This conference brought together stakeholders along the route to discuss tax issues.

Mr Bichevoy in his presentation spoke about IOTA, its international role and its services provided for the membership. He highlighted hot topics covered in previous years, including taxpayer’s services. He underlined that nowadays tax administrations use highly-sophisticated digital systems and tools to deliver wide variety of services. IOTA’s International Taxation Expert added that future taxpayer services will define the future of tax administrations, will shape tax authorities and it will have direct impact on how they operate, what kind of competencies and skills are required from tax professionals.
