IOTA highlighted the operational perspective in the G28 Summit on “Digitalisation and Compliance”

IOTA’s Executive Secretary, Miguel Silva Pinto addressed the G28 Summit, the Annual meeting of the Director Generals of the Tax Administrations of EU Member States which took place in Vienna on 17-18 September 2018, hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.

 

The Executive Secretary underlined that digitalisation can play an important role in enhancing the taxpayers-tax administration relationship and contribute to a more cost-efficient compliance framework. He described how the work programme of the organisation and the initiatives of IOTA are designed to meet the real needs of its members, offering opportunities to share knowledge and experience on operational aspects of tax administration related to tax compliance, taxpayer services and administrative capacity. He also mentioned the possibilities for future cooperation with the European Commission on these matters.

In the margins of the Summit, Miguel Silva Pinto held talks with Eduard Müller, Director General, Tax and Customs Administration of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Austria and thanked him for the active engagement with IOTA and wished Austria a successful Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The Executive Secretary invited the G28 countries, which are all IOTA members, to attend the Tax Summit on Digital Economy, on 24-26 October in Lisbon, where the impact of digitalisation on taxation will be discussed among representatives of 80 tax administrations from all around the world.
