The 10th Plenary meeting of the OECD Forum on Tax Administration (FTA) took place in Beijing, People's Republic of China, on 11-13 May 2016. IOTA was represented by the Acting Executive Secretary, Mr Jan Christian Sandberg. The focus of the meeting was how to build and maintain effective tax administrations in a globalised environment.

The FTA meeting highlighted innovations, leading practices, and future opportunities in relation to efforts by tax administrations to make better use of data and analytics as well as in the application of e-services and digital solutions. In recognition of the global responsibility of FTA members to aid developing countries in the improvement of tax administration, the meeting also explored recommendations for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of technical assistance, and to enhance capacity building coordination and collaboration with other international organisations.

IOTA’s Acting Executive Secretary participated in a panel discussion about capacity building within tax administrations. The panel discussion gave opportunity to share IOTA's experiences with capacity building and plans how to proceed with it in the demanding years to come.
