51 training and HR managers gathered this week from 31 IOTA tax administrations for the “Tax Professional Learning & Development Forum” in Warsaw hosted by the Ministry of Finance of Poland. The Forum was prepared by a Steering Group which greatly contributed to making this Forum an informal, dynamic and interactive exchange of experiences in developing staff.

The Forum provided a range of practical solutions, including methods for detecting and prevention of employee “burnout”, transfer of knowledge from experienced departing employee to his successor and many other techniques. The Forum paid special attention to the methods of effectively recognising, managing and addressing health problems and stress which are challenges for all tax administrations. In total 9 administrations presented their experience and practice in parallel group sessions. Knowledge management solutions, professional development centres, learning management systems, talent management in tax administrations, the creation of a coaching culture and several more relevant and useful issues were presented and discussed by participants.

IOTA members can see much more about the Forum on its webpage: a catchy teaser video of the Steering Group, photos of participants with their training highlights; the photo shows the country and what the participants was willing to share and willing to learn in the workshop. The answers for the Learning & Development Questionnaire are also available there about participants’ experiences in the subject of the Forum. More post-event material will follow.
