Alix Perrignon de Troyes, the Executive Secretary of IOTA delivered a speech on a lately organised digital forum by the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“The last two years have been among the most disruptive and challenging periods that IOTA member countries and their citizens have ever faced. While the public dealt with the uncertainty of the pandemic, many tax administrations played a key role in helping their governments deliver emergency measures to support those in need”, the Executive Secretary of IOTA said on the digital event.

Alix Perrignon de Troyes emphasized that the post-pandemic world will be very different because the expectations of taxpayers are growing. As she noted that the customers want new channels and services. The application of technologies based on artificial intelligence is gaining momentum. “I strongly believe that every crisis should be seen as an opportunity to evolve, transform tax processes and become socially, economically, and environmentally more sustainable. We must not overlook this opportunity enabled by new technology and the increasing digitalisation of the economy,” she added.

The digital event was held on 25th February 2022 and revolved around the theme Tax Reform for Inclusive and Sustainable Development: Towards Voluntary Action through Digital Transformation. The Executive Secretary of IOTA also greeted the employees of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the recently celebrated Tax Officer’s Professional Day (11th February).
