Ms. María José Garde, Deputy Director for International Taxation at the Spanish Ministry of Finance, took office on 1st January 2017 as Chair of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes.
Ms. Garde has developed her expertise during the past fifteen years in the international taxation and tax policy areas, being among her tasks the design of the policy regarding the tax system for non-residents, the proposal and interpretation of general tax rules and the negotiation and implementation of tax treaties and agreements for exchange of information.
Prior to her current position she had been responsible for International Exchange of Information on request at the Spanish Competent Authority for Exchange of Information in the Spanish Tax Agency.
Likewise, during these years she has attended numerous OECD and EU meetings. Nowadays, she is a member of the bureau at the Committee for Fiscal Affairs of the OECD.
