IOTA’s new Executive Secretary started to work in IOTA Secretariat on 17 October. Mr Miguel Silva Pinto, Deputy Director General of Portuguese Tax and Customs Authority was elected at the 20th General Assembly of IOTA for the position of Executive Secretary for the term of 2016-2019.
In the past 5 years Miguel was in charge of the VAT area in the Portuguese Tax Administration, he was a member of the Executive Board, representing his administration in many international events, organized by EU institutions, OECD and CIAT. Before that he has worked 12 years in Brussels, dealing with EU taxation and customs issues, both in the European Commission and in the Portuguese Permanent Representation to the EU.
Miguel is looking forward to use his international network for making IOTA even more visible in the international arena and to intensify its cooperation with international partners. He will also strive for close collaboration with IOTA members in order to get feedback about expectations, receive input and suggestions how to make IOTA better serve its membership.
