IOTA and OECD intensified cooperation

Mr Miguel Silva Pinto, the Executive Secretary of IOTA and Mr Pascal Saint-Amans, Director of Centre for Tax Policy and Administration of OECD signed a new Memorandum of Understanding on 25 January 2017. It aims to intensify the cooperation which will focus on a number of areas such as Automatic Exchange of Information, implementation and monitoring of the BEPS Project; holding joint events and undertaking joint research and projects to foster the exchange of experience relating to tax administration. BEPS is the most important area of the cooperation of the two organisations. IOTA is represented and is organising several events in order to assist IOTA members in the implementation of BEPS:

IOTA, represented by Mr Mostafa Amini, Technical Taxation Expert participated in a Multilateral Instrument special workshop on 27-29 March in Bratislava. Read more

IOTA and OECD co-organised the Second Regional Meeting of the Inclusive Framework on BEPS for Eastern Europe and Central Asian Countries which was hosted by the Ministry of Finance and the Revenue Service of Georgia on 5-7 April in Tbilisi. The meeting offered an opportunity for participants to discuss the status of implementation of the BEPS measures, with a specific focus on the peer-review mechanisms as well as timelines for the implementation of the minimum standards. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr David Chitaishvili, Advisor, Revenue Service of Georgia and Mr Eugenijus Soldatkovas IOTA Technical Taxation Expert. Read more

UPCOMING

IOTA will organise a Forum on Implementation of Measures to counter BEPS for its members later this year. The Forum will be prepared by a Steering Group which has its first meeting at the end of April in Budapest.

24th Forum of IOTA Principal Contact Persons

The 24th Forum of IOTA Principal Contact Persons (PCPs) was held on 15-16 March in Tbilisi Georgia, hosted by the Revenue Service of Georgia. The Forum is the gathering of Principal Contact Persons appointed in 45 IOTA member tax administrations whom play an important coordination role between IOTA Secretariat and respective tax administrations. The PCPs and IOTA Secretariat discussed developments and results of the year and the work and challenges ahead of IOTA in the next years. Read more

Joint IOTA-EU workshop

IOTA member countries and Fiscalis sponsored countries exchanged knowledge about new business models and about different approaches being applied in ensuring that sharing economy businesses fully meet their tax obligations. Read more

As part of cooperation of IOTA and World Customs Organisation (WCO) IOTA was invited as a WCO observer to the 215th/216th Sessions of the Permanent Technical Committee (PTC) of WCO on 3-7 April 2017 in Brussels. Read more

'Innovation in the Field of Collection and Recovery of Taxes and Fines' joint IOTA - EU Fiscalis 2020 Programme - OECD FTA workshop will be held on 20-21 April in Brussels.

'Tax Administration Strategies in a Changing Tax Service Landscape' IOTA workshop will be held on 3-5 May in Yerevan

Meeting of Debt Management Steering Group will be held on 23-24 May in Budapest.

'Tax Professional Learning and Development' Forum will be held on 31 May-2 June in Lisbon.

Meeting of the Steering Group of Forum on the Use of Data from Automatic Exchange of Information will be held on 7-8 June in Budapest.

IOTA’s 21st General Assembly will be held on 28-30 June in Kyiv with the main theme 'Disruptive Trends and New Business Models: Challenges and Implications for the 21st century Tax Administration'.
