The President is the Head of Tax Administration of the country that fulfills the chairmanship of IOTA for one year, also presiding over the Executive Council and hosting the next General Assembly. The President holds office from the conclusion of the General Assembly when he/she is appointed until the conclusion of the next General Assembly. The President’s main tasks are to preside over the General Assembly, to call and preside over the meetings of the Executive Council, and to represent the Organisation.
IOTA's current Presidency 2025/2026 is fulfilled by the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) and by Mr Ferenc Vágujhelyi, the Commissioner of the NTCA. This marks Hungary's 4th presidency following the years 1998/1999, 2005/2006, and 2023/2024.
The appointment of the Republic of North Macedonia for the 2026/2027 Presidency, along with Armenia for 2027/2028, was also accepted at the 29th General Assembly of IOTA in Baku, Azerbaijan.
