The 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) will convene from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Thousands of Government representatives, representatives of international organisations, NGOs and others will come to the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan to discuss the challenges related to climate change.

The main idea of the International Forum on Carbon Pricing is to initiate discussions that could be further elaborated during the COP 29 event and to exchange the best international practices on the use of carbon pricing mechanisms as a tool aimed at decreasing the negative effects of emissions.

The Forum will bring together experts and specialists dealing with tax legislation and carbon pricing issues to exchange their views on the challenges of introducing and implementing carbon pricing mechanisms and discuss various carbon pricing approaches, such as carbon taxes, emissions trading systems and hybrid models.

Participants will explore opportunities to integrate carbon pricing with other climate policies and initiatives and identify priorities for future carbon pricing analysis, policy development and international cooperation.

International partner organisations (Asian Development Bank, World Bank) will contribute to the discussion by sharing their experience on some of the Forum’s agenda topics.

The main conclusions and findings of the Forum would provide the base for further discussions during the UNFCCC COP 29.
