IMF and IOTA Held the First VITARA In-person Workshop in the European Region
Between 26 and 30 October 2026, the IMF and the IOTA team held their first in-person VITARA workshop in the European region since launching the partnership in 2020. The event took place at the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) in Vienna, Austria, with 25 registered participants from 15 countries.
Using a blend of VITARA products, participants were introduced to modern, practical approaches across a range of tax administration areas, and the event aimed to strengthen leadership, management, and governance skills. It was designed to broaden participants’ knowledge of and approaches to the main challenges senior leaders face in administering, monitoring, and managing a modern tax administration. Roman Bichevoy, Strategy, Governance, and Institutional Development Manager of IOTA, and International Taxation Experts Oksana Stepanenko, So Young Kim and Anders Obrink contributed to this event from the IOTA Secretariat.
The next in-person VITARA Workshop “Strengthening Tax Administration (VITARA)” is planned for 1-5 February 2027 at JVI in Vienna. Please click on the dedicated page on JVI website to apply. The application deadline is 15 November 2026.
Virtual Training to Advance Revenue Administration (VITARA) is a partnership between four organisations, Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It was launched in 2020 to develop a highly effective, globally accessible, on-demand, and free online curriculum on revenue administration issues. The VITARA modules are introductory-level modules designed for busy professionals who wish to improve their skills in tax administration.
