IOTA on the tax-customs cooperation in the World Customs Organisation

The meeting of the Permanent Technical Committee (PTC) of the WCO was held on 18-20 October 2017. IOTA was invited as WCO observer and attended two days of the meeting, giving a presentation on the tax-customs cooperation.

Interesting and relevant topics such as e-commerce, customs-post cooperation, tax-customs cooperation, special customs zones were discussed and presented by several parties. IOTA, represented by Massimo Morarelli, Technical Taxation Expert made a presentation in the last Session on Thursday 19th focused on the role and activities performed by IOTA as well as on the risks that tax and customs administrations have to face nowadays. Proposals for an enhanced cooperation with the related benefits that could derive have also been identified and highlighted.

Massimo Morarelli in the margins of the meeting met Ms Ana Hinojosa, Director of Compliance and Facilitation Directorate of WCO and both agreed on the mutual interest of the organisations in strengthening their cooperation.
