IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project “Assisting in building IT infrastructure and acquiring relevant methodological knowledge to support the application of artificial intelligence solutions”

IOTA is pleased to announce that two member countries, Hungary and Austria, have collaborated and shared their experiences in the IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project titled “Assisting in building IT infrastructure and acquiring relevant methodological knowledge to support the application of artificial intelligence solutions”.

The Federal Ministry of Finance of Austria as the Provider and the National Tax and Customs Administration of Hungary (NTCA) as the Beneficiary have successfully cooperated on the application of artificial intelligence solutions under the IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project initiated in 2023.

The main goal of the Project was to improve the NTCA team’s knowledge and share experience on the extended use of artificial intelligence solutions, both in terms of risk analysis and service delivery processes. This requires the methodological development of the relevant IT infrastructure of the NTCA as well as building the capacity of the staff.

The Project’s main activity was a study visit of the NTCA team to Austria organised on 25-27 September 2023 focusing on three main areas: (1) IT infrastructure supporting the work of the predictive analytics experts in Austria, (2) experience in using the SAS software and (3) learning about new methodological approaches in modelling and in addressing business problems. More specifically, the discussions touched upon such aspects of the above topics as the analytical infrastructure, organisational environment, methodological approaches and organising the workspace.

Additionally, the project teams are considering the possibility of organising a counter-visit of the Austrian team to Hungary to continue sharing knowledge and best practices.  In conclusion, the parties agreed that the IOTA Peer-to-Peer Technical Assistance Project is a useful tool for tax administrations to directly co-operate in different fields.
