IOTA’s Tax Administration Information Platform (TIP) is available
IOTA’s secure online data portal, TIP, that allows access and use of comparative data on 41 IOTA member tax administrations collected through the International Survey on Revenue Administration (ISORA) is now accessible. This represents a historic achievement and is the result of efficient cooperation of the four partner organisations (IMF, OECD, CIAT and IOTA) and the outstanding work of the Technical Working Group (TWG) on ISORA.
TIP grants participating IOTA countries access to a large set of both quantitative and qualitative data on IOTA member tax administrations. The TIP database contains more than 900 data per country and per year and allows registered users to ascertain, analyse, compare and visualise useful tax administration information on, for example:
- a country’s Personal Income Tax as a percentage of, e.g. the total net revenue or the total tax revenue;
- whether or not a country collects wealth taxes, inheritance taxes, real estate property taxes, etc.;
- the staff employed in the tax administration (total and broken down to, e.g. gender, full-time/part-time, age, education, etc.);
- the salary cost of the tax administration (total and broken down to operational and support staff) in nominal amounts and as a percentage of, e.g., the total tax revenue;
- on-time tax return filing rates for Personal Income Tax, Corporate Income Tax, VAT etc.
Why is the IOTA–TIP data platform useful for tax administrations?
- It enables IOTA member tax administrations to access ISORA data to measure, compare and benchmark their performance on core parameters to advise and improve their tax administration and processes and find appropriate solutions for underperformance in particular areas;
- It facilitates and improves analysis in your administration; and
- It facilitates cross-country comparisons as data on IOTA–TIP is comparable across the international tax community.
