Introduction of single taxpayer account

Georgia Revenue Service continues simplifying tax administration process for taxpayers by introducing a single taxpayer account (unified treasury code). Introduction of unified treasury code simplifies tax payment system, reduces number of procedures and time, and therefore eases administration process.  Having the new system, taxpayer shall indicate only one treasury code for any type of tax payment, instead of indicating one code from existed 125 codes, depending on the purpose of payment. In addition, overpaid taxes will be recorded at gross and not by each type of tax individually, therefore the excess amounts will automatically be offset against tax liability by the end of the day. There will be no need for requesting taxpayers to transfer overpayments from one type of tax to another one, thus the system will enable taxpayers to avoid approximately 5100 transactions annually.
