Its foundation, to which took part in the Italian Cadastral Agency (now incorporated in Italian Revenue Agency), was inspired by the increasingly strong interest felt at Community level about spatial information, as a fundamental tool for the implementation of specific policies. During the last years the Committee has increasingly represented a point of reference for the European institutions in the competent topics, including the implementation of Directive 2007/2 / EC (known as Inspire), aimed at creating a European infrastructure for spatial information.
The conference opened with a session dedicated to the real estate information system managed by Italian Revenue Agency. The strategy in this area enhances the quality of cadastral data in order to facilitate the integration of all the real estate information held by the Administration. The second day was dedicated to the debate about the management of the national streets maps archive, born in 2010 thanks to an agreement between Istat (The Italian National Institute of Statistics) and the Italian Revenue Agency, to make available to the Italian municipalities, a single, electronic and codified reference. At the same time some experiences about this topic were introduced by other Member States. The last session of the meeting focused on the opportunities offered by international cooperation in terms of information exchange and sharing of best practices.
At this meeting the Italian Presidency of the organization ended with the baton being passed to Latvia.
